“We are cups, constantly and quietly being filled. The trick is, knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out.” Ray Bradbury
Hi! I’m Kyla, a Rhode Island based artist and secondary art educator. I studied ceramics and art education as an undergrad and earned a BFA in Art Education with a major in ceramics. I went back to earn a masters degree in art education with a focus in 2D design.
I took up tufting in 2020, not really getting the results I wanted from punch needling. I was hooked after seeing tufted pieces on Pinterest. I learned from helpful teachers on YouTube, a lot of trial and error and have been exploring ever since! I dabble in watercolor, embroidery, sewing and up-cycling garments. Ceramics is my first love; I enjoy hand building and throwing on the wheel.
I love animals, plants, my family and exploring different techniques and mediums. I enjoy making one of a kind pieces or small sets and collections. I do not have the attention span or will power to mass produce. I m a huge fan of COLOR and enjoy picking new color schemes to incorporate into my work.
I create in my studio at home and also take over many other spaces as well. Many thanks to my husband and kids : )
